Beauty and the Bulk

Pearce Community Center Sports/League manager Gavin Sullivan said "I hear many women say they don't want to look bulky, so they avoid CrossFit-style training." Here's a different perspective.

Signs of Spring

Crazy headline, huh? Considering it's snowing like crazy outside adding to the foot of snow already on the ground, yes, it sounds crazy to talk about signs of spring. But youth soccer and volleyball league registration is now open, so kids playing outside can't be TOO far away.

February Member of the Month Announced

February Member of the Month Announced

February Member of the Month Joe Bischler tells us that being around others who are interested in staying healthy is his biggest motivator. The common struggles and camaraderie help him stay on course.

Joe’s son Anthony also helps him strive to reach his fitness goals. Anthony is majoring in Physical Science and is a personal trainer. With the help of his son’s weekly personalized workouts, Joe typically warms ups and then does 45 minutes to an hour of free weights. Occasionally, he adds cardio work. “I enjoy getting stronger, staying flexible, and pushing the limits of what I thought I could do,” says Joe.  When he needs a little push, his favorite inspirational saying comes to mind:  “The mountain is tall. The climb is tough. Pace yourself.”

“It can get really hard, but stay with it,” advises Joe. “Change your routine every four to six weeks, and work within your own limitations.”

When not at the gym or supervising his team at work, Joe most enjoys spending time with his family.
